Open Question: What do you think of my idea for a story?
The genre is fantasy, but it’s not a kids book and it doesn’t involve some flimsy love triangle between a human, vampire and werewolf. It’s aimed more at teens as the feel I’m going for is dark fantasy.

Here’s the plot.
Lucy’s dad is abusive towards his wife (Lucy’s mother) until eventually she runs away, leaving behind Lucy and her baby brother Charlie. Lucy becomes the main care taker or the house and Charlie. Her father turn his abuse to her. She harbours immense hate for her mother, but at the same time idolises her for having the courage to get away from such a horrible place. When Lucy’s dad becomes violent towards the baby, Lucy has had enough, and packs up their stuff and suns away. She heads out in the woods behind her home with no idea where she’s going when a scraggly looking boy jumps out at them, scaring them. His name is Rowan and he’s run away too. He says he is the baby in a family of 11 children and nobody cares about him. Together they continue walking until they reach a log that blocks their path. They climb over it and although they are still in the woods, they look different. Somehow darker and all the trees look like they twist in even weirder ways.

*The plot gets a little mor vague from here on in, as I’ve only fully planned out the first part*

Basically, they’ve entered a magic realm, full of darkness and evil. The good characters of the land have been overtaken by an Evil Fairy Queen who came into the realm a few years ago. The evil fairy queen has small and withered wings that cannot fly, so she rides a broom, like a witch. She has turned all the good creatures (faires, goblins, wizards etc) into slaves. She has cut them off from all their wealth and had some locked up. When Lucy, Rowan and Charlie arrive, the creatures are convinced they’ve been sent to save their realm and get rid of the evil fairy queen. So they take on the quest. They meet a lot of obstacles and help along the way. In the end they defeat the evil queen by subduing her with music and giving her back her own heart, which she kept in a glass case. It turns out that the evil fairy queen is really Lucy’s mother. She didn’t abandon her children at all. One night she just had to get out of the house for a bit and wound up in the magic realm. Once you enter the realm, you become either good or bad, there’s nothing in between. What’s in your heart is brought to the surface. Lucy’s Mum’s heart was so black and full of hate (due to her abuse) at the time that as soon as she entered the realm, she turned evil. Lucy and Charlie stay in the realm to live with their mum, the GOOD fairy queen now. Rowan goes home to his family. After seeing the horrible way the creatures in the realm were treated, he decided his family wasn’t so bad.

That’s it basically. Sorry it’s so long. I’d love to hear what you thought of it. Also, names are just temporary at the moment – if you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks for all your answers.
@ AnteSavant: The entrance to the magic realm is not that far into the woods. Lucy and Charlie have not gone very far when Rowan joins them, and after that they don’t walk very long before they reach the log. Lucy’s mother went into the woods to hide from her husband who was really angry. He is standing at the back gate screaming at her. She was crying and ran. She planned to go back after he’d gone to bed.

Resolved Question: Do you think I squandered my $18 Million (like my mom says) or was the spending justified?
Strictly as a business investment, my neighber Kyle and I decided to purchase 500,312 giant black double-headed dongs/dildos (Actually I put way more $ in more money than Kyle did). Anyway we had an ingenious plan for distributing them to nasty housewives all over the globe and we were going to steal their contact information from when they logged on to our site, and use the info to go to their houses and bang them all. (since they obviously would be aching for the taking and it should be easy to tbang them and then talk them into buying another dong for a friend, at which point we would up the price to $122.00 each and make a fortune. But Kyle backed out at the last minute so now I am sitting on half a million dongs and I can’t cover the transportation and we had already sold 90,000 of them before I could shut off the website and but we didn’t realize Fedex wouldn’t handle the mailing and now I have to research each individual address and complete the paperwork on the remaining 88,981 dongs all by myself. Do you think this was a sound investment, considering I did earn $200k of total revenue in the first year?

recently ive noticed a basic downturn in my so called friends in the last year, they used to want to hang out all the time and stuff like that but now not so much. my used to be best friend has replaced my for a girl i absolutley cant stand. the only time shell really talk to me is when she isnt here and when she just wants to brag about something. i loved the old her but shes long gone. my other friends, i no longer hav a best friend, arnt really the lets go to the movies or hang out at so and so’s house. nope there bumps on a log i guess you could say.

its driving me insane how much we never hang out except for at school. ive talked to some of them but and they say ok well do sumthin, a plan that has never gone through. getting new friends in college is the only thing i have to look foward i guess
any ideas for the meantime

Nothing is more relaxing than a Sunday afternoon on the patio enjoying the bright sunshine. The lawn has been trimmed to perfection and the soft breeze is blowing through the leaves. The beautiful Georgian view and the peaceful sounds is something that you want to enjoy all the time.

Most of the old fashioned porches and patios had wood flooring down. If yours still has the wood flooring you may want to try to bring it back to life. Restain it, sand it and make it look great. You can also put down a good area rug as well. These area rugs come in indoor and outdoor styles and both look great. Use light colors for the patio and get creative with the patterns.

You want to be able to bring the garden inside a little bit so hang macrame hangers around the patio and outside so you can display beautiful pots of begonias that drape over the pot. You may also want to add several miniature pots of African Violets around the room. For tall plants you will want to consider Philodendrons or Palm trees.

Evening light is a good idea because you want to be able to relax while you are on the patio. Try using recessed lighting. It will not interfere with the natural sunlight and it will give you more lighting. If the sun is too much on your porch you may want to consider wood shutter blinds. Add some valences above the windows for even more color.

Now it’s time to find some pictures to go on the wall. Find pictures that color coordinate with the rest of the look. Look for pictures that offer two or three different colors all in one. You can pull the colors out of the pictures and pull them colors out to enhance the Georgian style.

The quirky and irreplaceable cuckoo clock is a design that seems pulled right out of childhood imagination. The singing bird would have popped to freedom from behind two tiny doors much as clocks of today though. As mentioned before the Swiss were prevalent in the cuckoo trade. They made a finely detailed clock that many people still look for today. They were among the first to design their clocks to resemble the cottages of their homeland. The Germans actually thought this was such a great idea that they copied it in their designs. Another innovation that the Swiss brought to the cuckoo clock was the addition of musical boxes. I am sure the sweet melodies of these clocks brought joy to many homes!

Modern versions of cuckoo clocks are quickly stamped and cheaply built for the most part. Sadly even these versions have mostly been left for the tourist traps of the world. The Mission San Gabriel in California provides another example of a wonderful mission in California that continues to inspire enthusiasts of the Spanish revival style of architecture. People theorize that the Paleo-Indians entered America via Asia on the land bridge called Beringia. This probably took place 15,000 to 35,000 years ago.

Signs of habitation in California date back to the Ice Age where traces of these early Indians are found on Santa Rosa Island such as the Arlington Springs Man. It is speculated that the earliest humans made their homes on the southern valley of California. However, everything was about to change in the 1700’s, when the Europeans came to the west coast of America.

Montebello, California was the planned site for the San Gabriel Mission which was founded in September 1771. It was located on a parcel of fertile plain along the Rio Hondo, which is present day Montebello. Unfortunately, the Mission was damaged by a flood in 1776. It was rebuilt 5 miles away in what is present day San Gabriel. It is from Mission San Gabriel, that the pueblo was sent and in time founded Los Angeles. During the 1812 earthquakes that shook the entire foundation of California, harm came upon the exterior architecture of the mission. This historical building suffered damage to its famous bell. The mission housed a three-bell campanario that was located near the chapel’s east faade, which fully collapsed and was destroyed.

The bigger 6-bell structure was then moved to compensate for the ruptured campanario. While no pictorial record exists to document what the original structure looked like, architectural historian Rexford Newcomb deduced the design and published a depiction in his 1916 work The Franciscan Mission Architecture of Alta California.

Why do are we covering on the subject matter, and how does it correlate to our comprehension of the Spanish Revival style of architecture? The account of Mission San Gabriel makes it clear that the missions of California have withstood many chaotic periods. Some of these missions are now only mere shadows of what they once were.

This makes an interesting point because it shows that in many ways the missions themselves are copies of what they once were, and the Revival style is merely a copy of a copy. Even though we know this, it doesn’t dampen our fascination with this style. People still today in California and all over the nation are using the architectural vocabulary of this style to build their homes and civic establishments.

A lovely Spanish Revival building example is in St. Louis by the architect T.P. Barnett. Barnett was the son of George I. Barnett, who was also a renowned architect in St. Louis. The T.P. Barnett building is primarily appealing because it also has Art Deco influences. This makes it one of the most one of a kind buildings in the Grand Center region of St. Louis. Undoubtedly, this a historic building that you definitely must see the next time you’re in St. Louis. This magnificent construction of the Spanish Revival buildings is located on Washington Avenue.

Ok i am 17 and will be 18 in 4 months and i am a african american girl and i want to work in construction because i want to build my own log cabin home in colorado and i was looking at log homes online and i was on a site and a couple was on there and they said that they were taking log home building classes and i was wondering about that because i live in detroit at the moment but i plan on moving out of here soon but while i’m here in detroit i want to work in construction or log home building classes and i was wondering can anyone tell me about construction jobs in detroit or the classes and i no,i dont want to build it by myself and i want pros who have been doing this for years even decades to help me and i know its going to take years for me to learn and even more years for me to build the homes but it will be worth every minute and i want to start somewhere good and i want to start now ok and can you tell me the over all cost of all of this because i know its going to cost through the roof.And what is the educational stats in working in construction high school wise and college wise and just going in knowing nothing about construction.ok thanks

Resolved Question: What does she mean by it all?
I have a girlfriend.. we have a child.. we’ve been together for 2 years.. we’ve had some pretty bad luck but have always been happy.. until about a year ago.. we’ve been under stress about having a child, money issues, job issues, a home, etc.. which is normal considering we had the child early in our lives and also given the economic issues worldwide.. but in the past year we’ve fought about all these things lots.. I’m depressed about all these things and I think that’s what’s causing my slow and steady withdraw from the things(effecting work and causing arguments).. and I can admit I’m a jerk sometimes.. and she admits she doesn’t communicate well..
well.. this past 6 months she’s done some hurtful things and I believe I’ve tried every mature approach possible and have tried my hardest to make things work and to show her I care and love her a lot! she’s my world.. her and my son both.. but she says she cannot feel these things from me but acknowledges the fact I’m trying my best..
a few months back I wandered upon some emails a discovered she was talking to two guys (sexually).. but it was only on the internet.. she swore it wouldn’t happen again.. and she loved me and wanted it to work.. so I began to trust her slowly over the past few months.. well I had previously keylogged my comp because I noticed things were accessed when we went away to do things over long periods of time.. I was going through it and noticed a log where she was again talking in a sexual manner with another guy.. that night I confronted her about it and she cried and acted sorry and appologized.. the next day I decided to leave the keylogger on while at work and that night while sleeping and noticed the next day it was deleted.. I asked her about it and she seemed mad at me for having it on there.. I put it back on and recalled the logs and found where she was saying it with yet another guy and then was discussing things about me to him… and I saw she was telling them when I was awake and when I was at work so they could continue.. mentioning sending pics and using a cam.. although she claimed neither of those happened.. all of this hurt me.. so bad.. I’ve spent the past week or so with my brain flooded with thoughts of these as the words she spoke kept repeating in my head.. but I love her so again I try.. she cried and I explained that if she needed time to get her parting out of the way and live her life that I wasn’t holding her hostage and that I wish she wouldn’t but I would understand.. however, I told her I wouldn’t be here when she was all done with that.. the thought of my true love with another guy drives me clinically insane.. but if she did wish to pursue that life and end it with me I would have to live with it.. she says she wants a counselor and she doesn’t know what’s wrong with her and that these guys meant nothing nor did what she said to them.. still hurts me though..
one of the other main things that bothered me I can openly speak about because it was never an issue for me before.. she told one of the guys my penis was short and thin.. honestly it’s 6 & 1/2 Length and maybe 5 1/2 Girth.. I’m not positive on that one.. she’s always orgasmed.. never complained and tells me now it meant nothing that she was telling them what they wanted to hear so they would compliment her more.. I don’t know what to believe.. the logs or her.. I now makes me kinda insecure..
she says it’s her lack of feeling self-worthy.. I believe she does feel that way.. and it makes me sad still.. but does that mean all of what she did really meant nothing to her as she claimed?
I feel I wanted to forgive her and trust her but I know right now I don’t.. I’m hurt, angered, and down right awestruck..
Am I right for feeling she’s being genuine about loving me and wanting to be with me.. or am I being played yet again? I love her so much that even the hurt of this hasn’t outweighed the hurt when I think about losing her..
could she still love me despite what she’s done?
thanks for the opinions guys.. my mental (not physical) life is at stake.. I just can’t take this on top of everything else.. I need to know what to do so I can do it.. whether it’s working on this relationship or being alone for a while and sharing custody of our son.. I need a plan.. I’m going insane..
